PROJECT OVERVIEW
A TLS contract holder contacted us to work with them to create a locker solution for their client, Beach Master Unit 1 (BMU-1). Their storage requirements are unique because of the special missions BMU-1 executes. Our storage specialists and engineers worked with the defense contractor and BMU-1 to design the ideal locker for their team.

BEACH MASTER UNIT 1'S STORAGE REQUIREMENTS
Beach Master Unit 1 required new lockers for their entire unit at Naval Amphibious Base Coronado, located in Coronado, California. BMU-1’s tent is located on the beach and is 60 feet long by 30 feet wide. Their previous solution held 152 lockers, which wasn’t enough for their team. The unit needed 236 ventilated storage spaces for their team members.
Due to BMU-1’s facility being located on a beach and their unique missions, they required a well-ventilated system. Each unit member has lots of unique equipment including helmets, vests, wet gear and more. They required ventilation to air out and dry their equipment as well as allow for easy visual inspection. The lockers needed to be situated on a custom riser to prevent any flood and/or tide water from getting to the lockers.
BMU-1 also stated the lockers needed to be able to be locked with a padlock.

DASCO'S STORAGE SOLUTION
We worked with the defense contractor and BMU-1 to create a custom-designed TA-50 locker. Based on their changes, our engineers mocked up a new design which was quickly approved.
To save space in their facility and meet their requirement of 236 spaces, we modified our existing product to be a two-tier solution. We also adjusted the height, depth and width of the double-tier TA-50 lockers to fit their equipment-specific storage needs. Our new solution is 72” H x 32” W x 36” D.
In order to fulfill their riser requirement, Dasco engineered a custom solution for our TA-50 Lockers that raises the floor of the unit off the ground to allow for drainage.
Our standard locking mechanism accommodates padlocking, so we didn’t have to change anything to meet that requirement.
Once the custom TA-50 lockers were manufactured, we shipped BMU-1 a turnkey solution. We ripped out the old lockers, delivered and installed the new lockers and left their tent looking clean and ready to use.
